Course Overview

The B.Sc. Digital Media program has been formulated with particular reference to the Indian market, keeping in mind the dynamic nature of the Indian Digital Media Industry and its relationship to the Digital Media Industry around the world. The aim of this program is to introduce and prepare its students for a career in the Digital Media industry and at the same time maintain the academic ethos of a graduate study. Structured similar to the BA program, this program lays greater emphasis on the theoretical aspects of Digital Media.

Year 1 focuses on the foundation skills of digital media production, introducing concepts of design and how they are implemented from original concept to completion. In addition they will have the opportunity to explore a variety of visualization techniques.

Year 2 builds upon the skills gained in the previous year and the student to apply and further develop themselves within their area of specialization. They further develop visualization techniques particular to their area of specialism and also develop understanding of the basic theories and the grammar of the moving pictures. They develop specialist skills in 3D Modeling, Texturing, Lighting, Camera movement, Rigging, Animation, Dynamics and rendering using industry standard applications. They will also engage in sequencing though editing principles and learn how to composite live-action with computer imagery using the technique of compositing. The Business of Media module that focuses upon operational management will develop business knowledge of the student and enable them to manage projects and technology.

Year 3 builds upon the individual skills that they have gained in the previous two years and will focus on their ability to develop to do Digital Visualization which will include preparing a project brief, project execution plan, developing concepts, creating story boards and other pre visualization data required to execute a project. Through the Research practises module the student will learn how to do technology review, literature research and other research methods which they will be required for successful academic research. The student will also need to prepare and submit a portfolio in a professional manner and undertake professional practise either through a group project or through Internship. The student must submit a original piece of work as part of their Project work and critically comment on it in their Viva.
