Visit to Makkala Jagriti

As part of our outreach activities, On 25th Nov, 2011, the first year students of ICAT visited the N.G.O named Makkala Jagriti at Adugodi with the faculty members Neha, Prabuddha and Narayan at around 3 P.M. They aimed to impart some knowledge to the underprivileged children and inspire them to build up a bright future for themselves. Initially there were very few children, all between the age group 5 years to 10 years but later more and more with a higher age group joined the group. The students spent more than 3 hours with the N.G.O children and had a gala time educating and playing with the fellow kids. At last, as a token of love and concern, small packets consisting of a notebook, crayons, pencils, pens, biscuits and sweets were distributed to all the children at the N.G.O. The students and staff of ICAT had made a voluntary contribution to raise funds to buy those packets.

It was indeed an enriching experience for both the students of ICAT and the N.G.O kids. The 3 hours long session was totally insightful and informative for both the groups. The exposure to the world outside their social and cultural bounds was in itself an educational experience for the students and infused a great sense of responsibility in them besides sowing the seed for a better change.
