Under Graduate Show-2012

It was a significant day for ICAT students on the 16th June 2012, Saturday for the 2009 batch undergraduates of ICAT when they showcased their graduate work in Lalit Kala Academy. Interesting Animated &, visual effects short films and games done by students were showcased.

To honor the students Mr.HariShankar and Mr.Hareesh Narayan, the prominent Tamil Science fiction Ambuli Directors graced ICAT by their presence. Mr. Kumar - CEO of IMAGE Group, Mr.Madhan- Director (operations) Mr.V.Anand - Director (Technical) and Mr.Natraj (CAO) were also present for the Occasion.

Mr. Kumar - CEO of IMAGE Group appreciated the Graduate student for their efforts and their passion regarding their work which has been showcased. He acknowledged the attempt of Game students Sam Sandeep and Deepak Balachandhar, ‘for Pitching final Project to one of the most renowned company in the gaming Industry. He also appreciated 3D student Varsha for taking her concept to publishing company who appreciated the concept and shown interested in completed work.

Some of the best work in 3D, which has been displayed in graduation show were 'Flying Petals' by Elsa Sneha, 'Goli' by Manimaran R, 'Decision' by Varsha L, 'The Last wish' by Sandeep Singh Siddhu. Visual effects(VFX) students and Game students also gave some good work such as 'The Game’ by Dheeraj Narayanan 'The Global Warming' by Naveen Prasanth, 'Kaaval' by Prasad. ‘Squebs’ by Sam Sandeep and Deepak Balachandhar, ‘Through the heart’ by Allen Paulson’.

A scholarship was then announced by late student Mayank’s father. The scholarship is named as Mayank’s Scholarship Award, under which twenty five thousand rupees was awarded to Sankha Maitra student of Game department.

Other distinguished guests who were present in the event were University moderator Professor Sion Hughes, External examiners Professor Alan Summers and Professor Huw Davies and Samantha Evans, coordinator from University of Wales. Professor Sion Hughes and Professor Huw Davies mentioned the standards of ICAT student are equal to the standards of UK which is renowned for Art and Design education.

Professor Alan Summers was very impressed with the Graduate students’ effort on taking up the awareness project related to traffic condition in collaboration with Chennai Traffic Police during their Internship.
