The M.Sc. Game Technology program at ICAT is a 2 -year, full-time program that provides you all-round knowledge and intense practice in every facet of the game industry. The program makes you an able professional ready to take up a career in Game Designing, Game Development, Game Programming, and in various Design related companies.
The program encourages students to build 2D and 3D visual game arts that follows the vision of any game concept, such as concept art, sprites, textures, environmental backdrops or terrain images, user interface, models, animations, 3D environments, and cinematics. Besides, the program equips our students to invent new game concepts, design the gameplay, and work on game development tools to create workable games.

The Learning Curve
The all-round knowledge in Game production and specialist skills in the area of interest are nurtured in students through the two years of study. During the years, the students go through a linear learning process right from basics of design to advanced game development concepts.
Year I - Get Introduced to Design, Development, and Programming
The two years of study starts with the nuances of art and design and their major role in interactive media. The students are taught to visualize, conceptualize, and bring their ideas on a visual medium. They are taken through the game production process, theories of game design, and detailed tasks involved in 3D modeling of props, environments and characters. They are given practice in designing games with analytical and technical considerations with relevance to the field of study. Further, the students will be exposed to various programming concepts, Mathematical and Physics concepts behind programming, and scripting using powerful programming languages. They are also introduced to game engines and high level game development concepts.
Year II – Seek Your Expertise as a Game Professional
With the perfect basics, the second year provides intense practice in designing and developing interactive Web games and canvas-based games. The students are taught the tools and programming languages used in developing mobile games. They are introduced to Graphics pipeline, and provided the specialist knowledge in various graphics programming techniques employed in rich and interactive graphical simulations. They are also introduced to various 3D Graphics concepts like camera setup, terrain building, etc, and to using graphics libraries. They get their first-hand experience in 3D character animation and in importing characters to game engines. Further, they are given an insight of Artificial intelligence and an understanding of appropriate principles and guidelines to synthesize solutions in AI. They also get to extend their skills through developing individual project works and a portfolio showcasing their best skills.
