The Bachelor's Degree in Game Art and Design at ICAT is a full-time program that offers intense practice in the art of crafting game aesthetics and skill of designing games in 2D, 3D, and more.

The program takes students through every step that grooms them as a game professional, right from understanding the design basics and documenting ideas to building what a gamer will love. The Learning Curve

To bring out the uniqueness in every student for them to create original products, we take up different modes of learning. Be it the classroom sessions, laboratory practices, studio works, sessions from professionals, industry visits, showcase events, internship in reputed companies, and par real-time project works, every mode of learning give the students the freedom to explore.

Year I - Commence the Creative Journey through Art and Design

Knowledge building starts right from understanding the design fundamentals, color theory, gestalt principles, grids and layouts, and wireframes. The students are guided to seek inspiration from ancient art works and designs. They are introduced to visual communication methods, varied genres of video games, video game production, and art and sound in games. Introduction to different art techniques from pencil art to digital painting, clay modelling, and various other artistic techniques makes students enter the world of art and design.

Year II – Build the Specialist Skills

Moving firm with the basics, the students get their hands on 3D art, 3D modelling, kitbashing, lighting, environmental design, etc with precise eye to details. They get to analyze games of different genres, understand the game production process, and deploy intellectual property. The students are guided to practice every key task of game building, from pitching ideas and concepts to marketing, publishing and monetizing games. They get specialized knowledge on character creation, UV unwrapping, texturing methods, PBR techniques, and mapping. The students also team up as groups to put down their ideas as workable game designs.

Year III – Get Ready for the Professional Touch

Preparing for the challenges the students have to face shortly, this year insists students to perform every key task in game designing. The students start with a dissertation involving research on various topics, review of literature, case study, and referencing. They get to build their project of a workable digital game showcasing their skills to the world, through idea generation, building concepts, visualization, perfect documentation, prototyping, level designing and more. The students also go through the process of portfolio creation, maintenance, and presentation techniques. Amidst the in-house works, the students are expected to complete an internship program with any game company.
