Miraki 2024, Chennai - A day "Beyond Boundaries"!
ICAT College of Design and Media hosted Miraki 2024, its intercollegiate cultural festival, in October 2024 at the ASI Convention Centre, Chepauk. The theme, "Beyond Boundaries," resonated throughout, from bold fashion displays to powerful on-stage performances.
In the lead-up, ICAT students energized crowds with a vibrant flashmob at EA Mall and Citi Centre, building buzz for the fest. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 colleges around Chennai, including students from design, media, and art streams.
The event began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, led by Mr. K. Kumar, CEO of ICAT, and Ms. Lakshmi, Dean of ICAT, marking the formal opening of the event. The esteemed chief guests are Mr. Jayakumar (Movie Director), Mr. T. Ramalingam (Art Director), and Mr. Abdul Raafi, CEO of Mizaj International Pvt Ltd. Prominent walk-in guests were Mr. KK, YouTuber, and Mr. Allan Preetham, Music Composer and Keyboardist.
The students featured a vibrant line-up of off-stage events, designed to ignite creative energy early in the day. Competitions included comic strip design, War of RJs, dance battle, and photography, all judged by industry professionals. Notably, the War of RJs featured RJ Munna (Radio City) as the judge, bringing authenticity and excitement to the contest.
On-stage events came alive as students performed in the fashion show, delivered soulful group light-music acts, and energetic group dance performances, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience. Miraki's creative reach extended beyond the venue, with online contests in short films, poster design, and caricatures attracting wide participation.
The judges for the on-stage events were some industry figures,
- Fashion show judged by Ms. Preethi Indrani Kitchappan (actor/model)
- Light music judged by Mr. Karumari Karna (music composer)
- Group dance judged by Mr. Sathish Kumar,(dancer/choreographer from Vijay TV's Jodi Are You Ready)
As the fest concluded, stellar performances were recognized across all categories. Miraki 2024 embodied its core, spirited competition, and celebration, reinforcing ICAT's commitment to nurturing future-ready artists.
